Summer is here, and we all know what that means. Sunny weather, the beach, ice-cream and…oh! sweating! and that can mean unpleasant body odor. How will you survive all those summer parties?
In one study, they found that there are two types of sweats. One is basic and the other is acidic. Those people whose sweats were acidic didn’t have much body odour while those whose sweats were basic, smelled. Unfortunately, those of us with basic sweats are left, not only with an embarrasing wet mark under our armpits, but the smell to deal with as well.
Not to worry. Your hero? Why, it’s something that’s been right infront of us the entire time! Think summer…think lemonade stand. Lemon! Yes, lemon! Why lemon you ask?
Sweats are actually odourless, but the bacteria that loves the secretion, thrives in wet, warm, closed off places — just like in the armpits. They multiply like crazy and the waste and toxins from them cause the foul smell. However, they don’t thrive well in acidic environments, and that’s where the lemon juice comes in to save the day. Just cut a fresh piece of lemon and rub on your armpits. Yes, I know it’s a little weird, but it’s cheap, better for your health and environmentally friendly!
Now, not only can you enjoy summer with an ice cold glass of lemonade, you can smell fresh too!
Caution: do not apply to areas of skin that are scratched or if you have extremely sensitive skin. It may cause irritation.
Note: this acts as a deodorant to remove body odour, NOT as an antiperspirant.
